Our beginnings
A Brief History
In May of 2023 The Rt. Rev. Laish Boyd, Bishop of the Diocese of The Bahamas and The Turks & Caicos Islands, established a Working Committee to look into matters relative to the institution of a Monastic Community in the Diocese. In September of that year the Committee completed its work, and presented its findings to the Bishop. During October of 2023 recruitment began. At the end of March 2024 there were twelve registrants for the various levels of participation.
The Community of the Good Shepherd was Instituted and Inaugurated, at a Pontifical Eucharistic Celebration, on 19th April 2024. We are so grateful to God.
Our Charism
“The Charism of the Community of the Good Shepherd is to know, love, and serve the Lord in our own unique ways by living the monastic vows of Daily Prayer, Reflective Study, and Service to others, seeking personal transformation at the hands of Christ.”
Vision
A Community of Monastics responding to God's love by praying, studying, and giving personal service to the loved of God.
