The Path to Profession

After a period of discernment, the candidate becomes a Postulant.  The Postulancy is a structured period of further discernment which allows the candidate to get to know the spiritual values of the community, and its commitment to God and His creation.  After Postulancy the candidate becomes a Novice, committing him/herself to a Monastic Vocation.  This is followed by Profession of Monastic Vows, and living a Monastic Spirituality.

On Being an Oblate

The one who chooses the path of Oblation follows the  path of Profession, but culminates formation at the end of Postulancy.   The Oblate is a valued member of the Community, and is involved in most aspects of the Community, according to their state in life.  After making Oblation, the Oblate is vested in an Oblate's Habit

Be Our Companion

A Companion of the Community of the Good Shepherd  embraces the monastic practices of prayer and service.  Companions journey with the Community on its spiritual path, but does not have a formally mandated formation programme.  The Companion develops a Rule of Life which deepens his/her bond with Christ and community.

Be Our Friend

A Friend of the Community is a kind-hearted person who wishes to assist the Community in carrying out its Mission.  Friends provide prayerful support, and share their resources with the Community.  Friends are remembered in the daily prayers of the Community.
